Candy houses aren’t just for Christmas! And if you never got around to making one this past Christmas season and you have kids who won’t let you forget it, then this is just the project you need this weekend!
I’m sure the Valentine’s candy has already started trickling in. (Seriously, where does it all come from?) So sort it all out, grab a box of graham crackers, whip up some frosting cement and get to work.
- 2 egg whites
- 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
- 2 cups sifted confectioner’s sugar
- food coloring (optional)
Beat egg whites and cream of tartar until stiff. Gradually beat in sugar. Add food coloring. Keep frosting covered with plastic wrap pressed against it in bowl to keep from drying out as you work. This stuff gets seriously cement-like so please don’t leave your dishes ’til the next morning, it won’t be fun.
Then get creative. Let your kids go crazy. They really will come up with the coolest ideas and details, even when your cute candy house vision isn’t achieved it will still be worth it. Trust me.
Heart on the door? So sweet!
A family of bears moved into ours and “momma bear likes to work in the garden”. Dad’s on the roof and the kids are out back playing hide and seek.
